︎I’m interested in reading the air, the social climate, and seeing what is needed, or what could be made based on observation. If there is a void in the city for something that is necessary, how can architecture fill that void to create a positive outcome for society.
I’m not interested in working on mega towers, or luxury condominiums, though I enjoy it from time to time and have sharpened my toolkit for architecture by working on them.
I went to an art school at Pratt Institute in New York, graduated in 2016, and began working in the city, even living in Chicago for a year to join the esteemed high rise studio at SOM, while studying Mies van der Rohe buildings.
The covid pandemic brought me to work on public park projects like Gotham Park and Blue Park, which gives me joy to know that everyday there are hundreds of people being able to meet within those parks. Synergy, and creative connections forever emerging from those places. At a single event at Gotham Park, up to 5,000 people are able to make connections and enjoy the city.
I’m currently researching in doing adaptive reuse and public space projects for forgotten spaces and plazas on the perimeter of Tokyo, to convert into spaces for social gathering and youth culture in areas that mediate between the hyper-dense populations of Tokyo, connecting the global city culture back to rural areas.
I’m spending my time relaxing in Japan for the unforeseeable decade, reinventing new modes of existing in Tokyo, while escaping to Kanagawa or Matsuyama. Working at Kengo Kuma and Associates and exploring the prefectures slowly.
