Photographing New York with Fresh Eyes
As a detached mind from politics and conflict, I re-entered a city, one that I think as one of two forefront cities in American culture. I spent time away, in the calmness of Japan, relaxing my nervous system from the everyday news. It becomes a subconscious buzz that I hear but do not absorb.
In this photo series, I’m interested in exploring memory, and place, ruins, and regeneration, both psychologically and physically, within the built architectural environment.
政治や争いごとから距離を置いた心で、私はある都市に再び足を踏み入れた。
それは、アメリカ文化を象徴する二つの都市のうちのひとつだと、私は思っている場所。
日本の静けさの中で過ごした時間は、日常のニュースによって緊張した神経を静めてくれた。
あの情報の波は、いまや潜在意識に流れるだけで、私の中には深く染み込まない。
この写真シリーズでは、「記憶」と「場所」、「廃墟」と「再生」というテーマを、
建築された環境のなかで、心理的にも物理的にも探っている。
